Subject: 1999 Florida Shrine Assoc. Convention eNewsletter, Issue #2
Date: Thu, 11 Mar 1999 15:50:46 -0500
From: Gary Schweinshaupt <garysch@trowel.com>
Organization: Sahib Shrine Temple
Hi FSA Nobles and friends,
Our Convention date is rapidly approaching and we of
Sahib Temple have much to do in preparation.
We have a parade, competition, President's Banquet,
ladies lunch and much, much more.
One event that has never been attempted before is a
complimentary Continental Gathering of the Daughters of
the Nile and Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. This will
be held at Sahib Temple from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
on Thursday May 6. All Shriner's ladies are welcome.
As host Temple for the convention, Sahib is responsible
for the successful outcome of the convention. To make
this happen we have a group of Committee Chairmen who
are dedicated and hardworking. When you are asked to
help, please say yes and Sahib will put on the greatest
convention FSA has ever seen.
Yours in the Faith,
Ken Terryberry, PP Sahib Temple
Director General FSA 99

You have received this message because you have either
signed our guest book at http://trowel.com/fsa99 , sent
me an email referring to the FSA Convention or you have
some connection with the 1999 FSA Convention. If you do
not wish to be on the email list for this newsletter,
please email me at mailto:garysch@trowel.com and ask to
be removed. If you have received this message from a
friend and wish to be added to the mail list, send me a
message to be added. If you know someone that should be
on our list, send me their name and email address and I
will add them.
Previously I had sent this eNewsletter out with the
entire TO: and CC: list showing to give you an idea of
who is receiving it, I thought you all would give this
newsletter more credibility if you knew who and how
many were on the mailing list (now up to 125). Well,
because several of our members chose to spam the list
for their own agendas, and a couple of members asked to
be removed from the list due to the spamming, I will
from now on send this newsletter blind so you can't see
who's on the list. There's always a few that spoil it
for the rest of us.
If you know your temple's 'official email address',
please send it to me at mailto:garysch@trowel.com , I
would like to create a Florida Temple Email Directory
for the Website. So far I have:
Sahib
sahib3@juno.com Amara AMARA1983@aol.com Egypt egypt405@gte.net Marzuq marzuq@nettally.com Shaddai shaddai5@aol.com (Note: to those that can't seem to resist copying email
address lists for their own uses, please don't include
these addresses on your spam lists, they need to
be for official use only - thanks.)
This is the second Official 1999 FSA Convention
eNewsletter, if you would like to see previous
newsletters, we are now keeping an archive on the Web
home page. We will try send to out eNewsletters
periodically to keep you updated on what the convention
officers are working on and to provide you with details
that we hope will help you all have a great 1999 FSA
Convention.
This time we have added something new. So many of you
have written notes for help, offering help or offering
entertainment, that I have added articles from some of
your messages at the end of this newsletter. We do so
appreciate your interest and support.
You can help us by letting every Florida Shrine Temple
and Florida Noble you have contact with, know about our
Website. Please forward this announcement to any Noble
or friend of Florida Shriners that you think might be
interested. To be successful, we need EVERYONE to know
our Website is available. PLEASE HELP!
Look for another eNewsletter from FSA99 soon!
Don't forget, everyone that leaves a message in the
FSA99 Website Guestbook will be entered into a drawing
to win two FREE tickets to the President's Banquet at
the convention.
Best regards,
Gary Schweinshaupt, Webmaster

Some successes of the FSA99 Website:
The Bahia Horse Patrol, in need of boarding and feed
for their mounts, emailed our Website for assistance.
Housing Chairman Mort Steiger mailto:morger2@home.com
made the contacts and communicated the information
required with Bahia in a matter of days. We think this
is a perfect use of the Internet and email.
A Truckers Unit that has been thinking about competing,
but didn't have enough information, was put in touch
with the President of the FSA Motor Corps Assoc. via
email and arrangements were made to pass on all
necessary information - in just a matter of hours!
We found out via a member that is on our newsletter
mailing list that a new temple has come online
recently. Bahia Temple has just established a Web Home
Page at http://www.magicnet.net/~bahia/ That brings us
to four Florida temples online, what's holding up the
rest of you? I have it from a good source that Morocco
is planning to be online with a Website soon! If you
know of other temples that are now online, or are
contemplating (and may need help), let us know and
we'll get the word out. Other temples online are Sahib
at http://trowel.com/sahib , Egypt at
http://home1.gte.net/egypt405/ and Marzuq at
http://www.nettally.com/marzuq/ If your are interested
in other temples on line, check Sahib's list at
http://trowel.com/sahib/favorite.htm , I do my best to
keep it current, let me know if I'm missing any or if
you find any errors in the addresses.
Incoming FSA2000 President Elect Tom Embree, PP of
Bahia is interested in continuing the FSA Convention
Website. I have agreed in principle to create a site.
If you have any comments on this, please let Ill. Sir
Tom mailto:tomembree@aol.com or myself know how you
feel about this. What can we do to improve this form of
communications, what would you like to see on FSA2000
Website or what do we have on FSA99 that you don't
think is necessary? Ill. Sir Norman Blackwell, PP of
Morocco has also indicted his interest for FSA2002 in
Jacksonville. So, I guess the leadership of FSA feels
the experiment has been successful :-)
Because the Website and email are so convenient, email
messages are already being exchanged between committee
chairman for FSA2000 and association units. Bill
Whitney mailto:WHIT3936@aol.com , a member of Bahia
Temple Chanters is on the committee for the FSA
Convention in Orlando in the year 2000. His specific
job is to coordinate events for Chanters, send him an
email if you're interested in working with him. Now
that's what I call preparing in advance.
List member Ron Henderson mailto:boice3@juno.com passes
on a new International Association, Legions of Honor
Website at http://morelight.org/IALOH/ for our LOH
brothers.
Maybe we ought to create an FSA member's email
directory. Let me know what you think. I would say the
list would have name, email address, temple, unit,
position and FSA unit association. Could have the list
sorted by temple and unit and association. Might make
it easier to send out notices. I would only do this by
request, I don't like listing people on email lists
that they don't want to be on. I have such a list on
Sahib Website http://trowel.com/sahib/emailst.htm if
you want to check it out.
The FSA 99 Website Guestbook continues to be quite
active, please check out what Florida Shriners are
communicating about. Leave a note while you're there
:-)
